Ticket sales suggest Raiders fans aren’t abandoning team in wake of Vegas vote

The Oakland Raiders will remain in California through the 2018 NFL season after the NFL owners voted 31-1 to approve their eventual move to Las Vegas. And despite Raiders fans who have taken the news hard, it appears there is still much love left for the team in Northern California.

It appears, at least according to ticket sales for the 2017 season, that dedicated fans are not abandoning their team. In fact, Oakland has sold the sixth-most tickets for this season’s upcoming games according to a report by

That is a sign of pure fan love. Things might spell a different story closer to the Raiders actual move in two or three years. For now, fans are buying tickets about as fast as ice cream is sold on a 90-degree day.

For those wondering, the top-five selling teams ahead of the Raiders are the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants and New England Patriots.

Currently, the Raiders have two more years left on their lease in Oakland. The team also just purchased land near the Las Vegas strip that will house its new stadium.
